"To turn that pain into something constructive is an achievement in and of itself. To transform it into nine thrilling and gorgeous pop tracks is a miracle.”

album review
Delicate-voiced Claire George articulates her healing in airy dance-pop such as “Pink Elephants” and synth ballads. If only we could be the kind of friend she is on “I Promise,” or to have a happier ending than “Northern Lights,” where being young, dumb and in love seemed a moment destined to last forever.

"'The Land Beyond the Light'... sees her expanding her sound, overlaying her evocative vocals against more layers of organic instrumentation, including real bass and guitar, to reflect the very real feelings of grief that sit at the heart of the songs.”

“northern lights” premiere
"Northern Lights” refracts hard-wired, vivid specifics — “azure eyes,” “an old schoolhouse,” “that song” you loved — through haunting, inconsistent spectre: “You were so far gone, hardly recognised you / And now that you’re gone, well I see you all the time.” True to that, the song’s electro-pop production begins hard and distinct before degrading, pinging synths and dubby guitars beginning to obscure the tight drum hits. Altogether, it’s a striking, heartbreaking image.

ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES SOUNDTRACK FEATURE
“There’s just something about the music in a young adult adaptation that sets it apart from others, and it all has to do with the soundtrack.
The songs just don’t set the tone of a scene, but they also make viewers feel a very specific way — almost as if you’re yearning for your teen years again.”
